Fishermen Youth Soccer Academy is designed for our youngest players, from Pre-K through 2nd Grade, with the goal of giving kids a fun, positive first experience with soccer.
The Fall 2026 season runs from Saturday, September 12 through Saturday, November 7.
Pre-K and Kindergarten meet Saturdays from 9:30–10:15 AM, while G2 (1st and 2nd Grade) meets Saturdays from 8:30–9:15 AM at Mag Woods, plus one 45-minute midweek practice scheduled by each team’s coach.
Our Philosophy:
The three core goals of the Academy are Love of the Game, Belonging, and Confidence. We want kids to look forward to soccer every week, feel like they are part of a team, make friends, and leave each session feeling proud of themselves and excited to come back.
How We Coach:
Our main technical focus is ball mastery—helping children become comfortable dribbling, stopping, turning, and controlling the ball. We also introduce simple decision making by giving players choices during activities. Whenever possible, every child should have a ball and be actively involved because more time on the ball means faster development. Scrimmages are kept small-sided so players get more touches, more chances to make decisions, and more opportunities to score, succeed, and enjoy the game.
our FYS Academy sessions are held at upper Magnolia Fields at 550 Western Ave in Gloucester. For more information about the FYS Academy, please contact the Academy Director.
Equipment Required:
Players should come dressed and ready to play with comfortable athletic clothing, shin guards, soccer cleats or suitable athletic shoes, and a water bottle.
Fishermen Youth Soccer provides the soccer balls, cones, pinnies, goals, and other training equipment needed for Academy sessions. Team shirts will also be provided during the season.
Volunteer Coaches Needed:
Fishermen Youth Soccer Academy depends on parent volunteers to make the program possible. We are always looking for parents who would like to coach their child’s team. No previous soccer coaching experience is required — especially at the Pre-K and Kindergarten level, where sessions are built around simple, fun soccer games and activities. Practice plans and support are available, and coaching is a great way to be directly involved in your child’s soccer experience.
**WAITLIST**: If this program is waitlisted, go ahead and join the waitlist and we will re-open to more players as soon as we have enough parents willing to help lead activities. If you are able to help, please indicate that you are able to coach (or volunteer in other ways) when you register. Thank you!
